I thought this month I'd show you a few tricks and treats to get you in the Halloween Spirit. I know this year might be different but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the holiday.

This first one is going to be a cocktail. The great thing about this trick to get the overall effect is you don't need to use alcohol if you don't want to. The cocktail we're making is called a Transfusion. A transfusion is a vodka cocktail with grape, ginger, and lime as the complementing flavors. I decided instead of concord grapes, I'd try out these Moon Drop Grapes I found at my local grocery store. They taste really good and the name just kind of screamed Halloween to me.

The other change I'm making is that I'm gonna be showing you how to make a lime ginger simple syrup to go with the cocktail. Normally, it's a ginger syrup and then you add lime juice later but, this syrup should add a great flavor to the cocktail. To make the drink look glittery, we're gonna add some edible drink glitter that I found on Amazon.

If you want to make this nonalcoholic, you can just use regular grape juice or even grape soda. Just know that there's a lot of sugar going into the simple syrup. I'd find a juice that doesn't have any added sugar if possible. Then you'll just make the ginger-lime simple syrup and add the edible drink glitter. You can find the edible glitter I used here: https://amzn.to/2FWIThG

Let's get started!! You'll start by cutting the grapes in half. Then put them in a mason jar. Once it's full of grapes, pour in your vodka of choice. Let this infuse together for about three days. It should also retain the color of the grapes.

Once it's been infused for a few days, remove the grapes. It should have a purple-ish hue like the first picture. Add in a spoonful of the edible glitter. Shake the jar to incorporate.

For the lime simple syrup, combine the sugar, water, ginger and lime zest together in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until it reaches a low boil. Remove from heat and let it steep for 30 minutes. Strain the syrup into a container and add the lime juice.

To make the cocktail pour the vodka into a chilled glass. You can add ice to the glass I didn't have any at the time so I just made sure everything was chilled. Next pour in the lime ginger simple syrup. Stir then enjoy this spooky cocktail.
